This weekend the Kansas City Roller Warriors (ranked #2 in the WFTDA South Central Region, and #9 by Derby News Network) took on both the Rocky Mountain Roller Girls and your Denver Roller Dolls' Mile High Club.Despite leading the series with Denver 3-1, the Kansas City Roller Warriors couldn’t find a win this weekend as they made their initial trip to the Western Region this season. In a closed bout on Sunday morning, the Denver Roller Dolls' Mile High Club took command of the bout from the beginning, holding KCRW scoreless until the 6th and 7th jams when Track Rat and Black Ice put a combined 14 points on the scoreboard. These would be two of only three jams in the entire bout where the Roller Warriors earned lead.Denver's excellent pack work and all-star jammers overwhelmed KCRW for a 189-79 point victory. Heather Juska led the Mile High Club with a stunning 85 points followed by Sandrine Rangeon with 48 points. In previous seasons the Kansas City Roller Warriors managed to squeeze through the South Central Regionals and secure a spot in the 2010 and 2011 WFTDA Championships, while Denver fell just short in the Western Regionals. However with a promising season ahead of Denver, there is a great possibility that we will see both teams at the 2012 WFTDA championships in Atlanta in November.
