Huge congratulations to the five DRD skaters selected to participate in the 2014 Roller Derby World Cup: Julie "Angela Death" Adams, Jes "Bea Ware" Rivas, Shaina "Eeklips" Serelson, Tracy "Disco" Akers, and Jerica "Urrk'n Jerk'n As Booty Block Ya" Martin.Find out more about what it means to be a part of Team USA in this Westword article.Additionally, recognition goes out to to referee Loren Order, who recently qualified for Level 4 Ref Certification. Ref Su Real notes that across all of international WFTDA (333 full member and apprentice leagues), there are only 33 Level 4 & Level 5 referees. That's right -- 33! Of these refs, only 3 are female.These six ladies are appreciated for their talent and dedication!

Crushers Are the Hometeam Champs!
Congratulations to the Orange Crushers! The Crushers won the home team championships at the Denver Roller Doll's final bout at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo. The Crushers took home the victory over the Bad Apples, led by MVP Jammer Krys Kross.In the 3rd and 4th place bout, the Shotgun Betties pulled out a win over the Electrocuties. Mile High Club Takes First at WFTDA Divisional Playoffs!
The Denver Roller Dolls traveling All-star team the Mile High Club took first at last weekend's WFTDA divisional playoffs in Ft. Wayne Indiana. With their wins MHC secured a spot at the the championship tournament in Milwaukee in November.The Mile High Club took down topped ranked teams Cincinnati, London, and Ohio with their demoralizing defense and phenomenal teamwork.You can help the Mile High Club pay their way to champs here!

The Denver Roller Dolls are encouraging fans, skaters, and other friends to bring specific donations to our 2013 bouts. There are boxes for each team at the main entrance to collect the items, and there will be special recognition for the team who brings the most items at the end of the year -- plus special giveaways along the way for fans who bring donations.Our last 2013 drive:October 12: coats to benefit Coats for ColoradoSample items: winter coats, fleece jackets. Hats, gloves, and scarves can be donated but will be taken to a local shelter, as Coats for Colorado does not collect these.Results to date:Our 5/18 bout garnered 376+ troop care package items for Colorado Supporting Our Troops. The Bad Apples brought the most donations to the door (166), followed closely by the Green Barrettes (156). The Cuties, Betties, and Crushers all brought 18 apiece.Our 8/17 bout harvested 139+ food drive items to benefit Cooking Matters. The Bad Apples brought the most donations to the door (38), followed closely by the Crushers (35), Barrettes (28), Betties (20), and Cuties (18).Our 9/14 bout procured over 340 school supplies for Grant Middle School in Denver. The Crushers dominated by far (140). The rest of the teams all brought about the same amount: Barrettes (59), Betties (53), Cuties (45), and Apples (43).Additionally, Love Hope Strength will continue to register for the bone marrow donor registry at each bout. Mile High Club Takes Second at Golden Bowl!
The Denver Roller Dolls' traveling all-star team the Mile High Club took second at the third annual Golden Bowl in Chicago, IL. The Mile High Club faced as a tough schedule, playing three games in two days against nationally ranked Bay Area All-Stars, the Texas all-star team The Texecutioners, and the home town Windy City All-Stars. The Mile Club played three hard-fought games, triumphing over Bay Area and losing to Texas and Windy City. However, the games were very close and because of the point spread and records of the other teams, the Mile High Club took second in the tournament.
