Denver Roller Derby’s All Star Team, the Mile High Club, will be hosting a boot camp April 18 and 19 at the Glitterdome!!!

If you have ever wanted the chance to skate with some of the best derby skaters in the country now is your chance! We have an exciting two days packed full of tricks, tips, and skills and we look forward to sharing them with you!

This bootcamp is geared toward beginning and intermediate skaters and is Co-ed.

We are offering camp on both Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th. Register before April 1st and receive a free ticket to Denver Roller Derby’s bout on April 18.

Saturday, April 18th from 9:30AM – 4PM
Sunday, April 19th from 9:30AM – 4:30PM

SCHEDULE:
Saturday Morning
9:30-10AM – Registration
10-10:30AM – offskates warmup/ gear up
10:30-11:15AM – Improved Crossing technique
11:15-12 – Intro to Backwards Skating (J-turn mechanics, forward/backward transitions)

12-1PM – Lunch & skate maintenance clinic

Saturday Afternoon
1-2PM – Stopping Clinic (plow mechanics, small stops, stopping in a pack, hockey stops (left & right foot)
2-3PM – Individual Blocking skills
3-4PM – Jamming Clinic (edging, spinning, other jammer skills)

6PM – Denver Roller Derby Bout (free ticket if you register before April 1st)

Sunday Morning
9:30-10AM – Registration
10-10:30AM Offskates warmup/gear up
10:30-11:30AM – Blocking in a wall (matching hips, when to turn forwards or backwards, how & where to brace teammates, hand placement, footwork in different parts of the wall, being slightly in front of teammates getting pushed
11:30-12:15 Blocking Formations (shock, 3&1, triangle if skilled enough)

12:15-1PM – Lunch

Sunday Afternoon
1-2PM – Giving & Receiving offense (where to play O & looking for angles, communicating O, individual and team O, setting picks, reading O)
2-2:30PM – Jam Skating class
2:30-4:30PM – Scrimmage or mini games depending on number of people and skill level
